LEK Frédéric Malek. French painter born in Paris in 1971. A key artist in the Parisian graffiti scene, LEK develops his lettered and abstract style influenced by the architecture (which he studied), lettering and the Bauhaus style he loves. Boarder, with the graffiti artist Sowat, to the Académie de France in Rome – Villa Médicis from 2015 to 2016, LEK cultivated his style there and worked with space and chaos. Passionate about Urbex, LEK invested in 2009, still with Sowat, an abandoned supermarket, and both invited more than 40 artists to paint there for more than a year. The «Mausoleum» project was born, followed by a book published by the Éditions Alternatives in 2012. In December 2012, with the participation of Sowat, Dem189 and many other guests, he occupied the underground passages of the Palais de Tokyo, a space normally inaccessible to the public. The space is covered in paint like a brownfield site, a wasteland. This exhibition, «Dans les entrailles du palais secret», is part of the «Lasco Project», an initiative of the Palais de Tokyo deploying in several interventions, in which different artists from the French graffiti scene intervene in this space, for the duration of an exhibition.
